June was another excellent reading month for me, with 12 books read (including an entire series!). It has been hot over here in the UK and I’ve not had much energy to do anything but sit on the sofa and read, read, read. It’s also the start of many publisher’s push for autumn titles, which means I’ve received a lot of increcible books that are publishing later this year. Let’s take a look!
Books I read

I really enjoyed every book I read this month! Highlights of my June reading are definitely the Immortals series by Tamora Pierce. This was my first read of this beloved series, which I happened to have totally missed as a kid, and it was fabulous (minus the romance, the less said about that the better). It’s objectively better than the Alanna books, but it hasn’t been dethroned as my favourite girl knight (nostalgia is strong).
I also really enjoyed the new/upcoming books from Orbit The Incandescent – think the magical school trope, but focusing on the teachers instead of the students – and The Second Death of Locke – romantic fantasy with plenty of yearning. Reviews for these will be coming soon!
Books I bought

I only bought three physical books this month, which means I deserve a cookie. I’ve already read The Liminal Zone 2 – a new Junji Ito book is always a treat – but am most excited to finally pick up Atmosphere. Taylor Jenkins Reid in the 1980’s space program? Yes please. I’m also really looking forward to Lady’s Knight, a cosy fantasy rom-com that’s part of 2025’s trend of female knight books (a trend I can get on board with).

Physical books

I’ve had some excellent book post this month! I read and thoroughly enjoyed The Shadows Between Us back when it came out, and now it has a sequel! I imagine The Darkness Within Us will also be a hoot and I’m really looking forward to reading it. I’m also really looking forward to Clay McLeod Chapman’s collection of short stories – I’m a big fan of his weird horror tales – and Isle of the Silver Sea is one of my most anticipated books of the year!
NetGalley books

Okay, yes. This is a lot of NetGalley titles. One of my resolutions for this year was the implement a 6-week ARC program. I didn’t actually get around to this program in the first half of the year, but I’ve got a calendar all set up now! I think it will be a huge help with NetGalley books especially, as I’m scaling back on physical book requests. I’ve already read The Haunting of William Thorn – a review is coming later this week – and I’m in the middle of Lucky Day, so the system is working!
So many of my most anticipated books of the year are sitting on my Kobo right now and I can’t wait to read them all!
This has been quite a big post, time to get reading! What were your favourite June reads? Have you read any of these books? Let me know!
