So I’ve been doing these monthly TBR strategy posts since April. I find they’re really helpful for organising my thoughts and tackling small-term reading goals. Here’s my strategy for July.
TBR reshuffle
My TBR pile has looked pretty much the same since January. Some books pass in an out, but for the most part it has stayed the same. So I decided to pull everything off my nightstand and put a completely new TBR stack there.

I took out almost everything that has been sitting there for more than a few months. I swapped in a lot of the new books from my birthday haul, which are new and exciting. There’s two ARC titles here: The Particle Zoo and The Cardinal’s Man. You may note Samantha Shannon and lots of V. E. Schwab here — I’m going to an event in London featuring these two ladies in early August! I need to get my read on so I can get the most out of the event (if you’re going to, let me know!).
I’m heading to YALC this year for the first time! I’m trying to pack in as many YALC authors as I can before it happens at the end of July. If you’re going to YALC too, let me know! Also share your book list – there are so many authors going that I can’t keep them all straight.
ARCs from NetGalley
Another focus of this month is going to be clearing out my digital TBR pile. I want to boost my NetGalley percentage — the ratio of books approved versus the number you’ve rated and reviewed. Mine is abysmal at the moment and I want to get it up! Here’s some of the new books I’m going to focus on this month:
Flight of a Starling by Lisa Heathfield
Godblind by Anna Stephens
Shattered Minds by Laura Lam
The Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King
These are the upcoming books that I’m most excited about! I’m also hoping that I can tear through them and get some reviews out.
Other than this, I plan to read this month! I’ve got some travel plans, which should hopefully allow for some book time. I’m aiming to read another eight books in July, which is in line with my reading progress for the past two months.
What are your reading goals for July? Do you try to plan out your books like me? Does this strategy actually work? Let me know!
