I find these monthly TBR strategies really helpful. I’m the kind of person who instantly rebels against any kind of restriction for my reading, so I tend to use them more like guidelines than strict rules. My digital and physical TBR piles are absolutely staggering right now.
I was doing sort of alright for physical books until this weekend, when YALC happened. If you have seen my towering pile of YALC swag, you’ll completely understand. On top of that, I only managed to read one digital ARC last month and the virtual pile just keeps growing and growing. I know that I really need to buckle down and catch up on ARC reading this month. So when I discovered ARC August, I knew that it was the perfect event at the perfect time!
ARC August is hosted by Read.Sleep.Repeat and is in its fifth year. The rules are as follows:
- Any Advanced Reading Copy counts as part of this reading challenge; your backlist books count
- No blog necessary to participate, but you’ll need to include some form of social media as part of your sign up
- Use the #ARCAugust on social media to check-in

That’s a LOT of books, yes. As I said above, I’m not good at sticking to strict TBR’s, so these are more like my options for the month. I am aiming to read at least six of these in August because I know I’ll stray back over to my physical books.
Edit: I was just approved for Nick Lake’s Satellite, so I’ve added that one on too.
Overall, I’d like to read ten books in total. I have a huge list of physical books that I’m hoping to read too, but here are a couple of highlights:

What a month this will be! It’s probably time to cancel my World of Warcraft subscription.
