Happy Friday! ย I cannot believe another week has come and gone already.ย I meant to have this up a few hours ago, but I forgot to schedule it in — oops!
It has been pretty slow goings in terms of reading this week, but I’m honestly okay with that!ย I’ve been reading a fair few things and I’m really enjoying most of them.
Books I read

Lockwood and Co.: The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud
I finished the first in the Lockwood and Co. series this week, and I absolutely loved it.ย This is a series I had never heard of before getting involved in the UK book community, and I wish I had read it earlier.ย It features an alternate Britain that is overrun by ghosts, teen ghost hunters in a situation in which it actually makes sense for them to be teenagers, an amazing female lead, great friendships, and excellent banter.ย I have the second one ready to go soon!
Books I am currently reading
Paris Adrift by E. J. Swift
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Cosmos by Carl Sagan (audiobook)
I’m currently reading three books, which shouldn’t surprise anyone.ย Paris Adrift and Astrophysics for People in a Hurry are two books that I’m currently reading very slowly for two different reasons.ย Paris Adrift is one that I’m not sure I’m into because there are parts I love and parts I’m less sure about.ย It’s a very surreal book!ย Astrophysics is incredible, howeverย I’m choosing to go slowly in order to absorb as much information as possible.ย I love science but don’t have much of a science brain, so I love Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s efforts to open up science to everyone.
Finally, I’ve got the audiobook for Cosmos, and I’m loving it.ย It is mostly narrated by LeVar Burton, but Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Seth MacFarlane, and Anna Druyan (Sagan’s widow).ย Although my experience with audiobooks is limited, I can easily say that this is the best one I’ve listened to yet.
Books I bought
Nothing to see here!ย That’s two weeks in a row!
Book mail

Elysium Fire by Alastair Reynolds
What a beauty!ย This is the second book in the Inspector Dreyfuss series.ย I have the first one, Aurora Rising, waiting for me and I can’t wait to dive into this series.ย I’ve only read one book by Reynolds and it was a novella, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do with a wider story.
NetGalley Approvals

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
I am finally back on NetGalley after a long absence!ย I was really intrigued by this book, despite not knowing much about it.ย It does say that it’s for fans of Leigh Bardugo, so I snatched it up right away.
That’s it for this week!ย I anticipate the weeks getting a little more hectic here soon, so I’ll do my best to keep you all updated on my reading.ย If you want to see more, I actually have a reading vlog going up this weekend!ย Keep an eye on my YouTube channel — it will go up on Sunday.
