Happy Friday everyone! How is May almost over? Seriously, how?
You all may have noticed (or not) that I haven’t been great about updating here for a couple of weeks. I took a mini-hiatus due to some serious stress popping up, but that’s all sorted now! Exciting new to come. Back to business as usual!

Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames
I read three books this week! First of all, I completed my buddy read of Kings of the Wyld with the marvelous Bethan of Bethan May Books. I am so glad she suggested we read this together! I have known about this book for ages, even owned a copy of it, and hadn’t read it yet. I ended up loving it! A review is coming soon, so keep an eye out next week!
I also finished up my series read of Saga and absolutely loved it. I’ve mentioned before that I sometimes struggle to get into graphic novels because of the length, but I was immediately sucked into the story and am now impatiently waiting the next installment in October.

Yes, I’m still working on IT. I have about 12 hours left — so close yet so far! I’m also reading The Poppy War (fabulous, am about halfway through), Spinning Silver (also fabulous but also struggling because I can only read it on a computer. Damn you NetGalley files!), and The Electrical Venus (okay so far, but not hugely into it). I’m really trying to rein it in a bit, but I want to start about 17 other books as well. I hope I get some reading time in this weekend.
The Electrical Venus begins my YALC TBR — I’m a little late with this, but still hoping to read a fair few books before the end of July!

The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton
These are both highly anticipated new releases for me. I’ve been wanting to get my paws on Ace of Shades for awhile to see how it stacks up to the author’s debut novel, Daughter of the Burning City, which I loved. I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit nervous about this one.
The Queens of Innis Lear is a long book, but one I’ve wanted to read for awhile. Despite having a NetGalley copy sitting on my Kindle, I bought this hardback finished copy. I really struggle to read long books on Kindle, so I’ve been avoiding this one for awhile. Now I have no excuse (and it’s so beautiful!).

Hey, I figured out how the hell to use Edelweiss! It’s a very strange system that I’m still figuring out, but hooray for more books! I was approved for Anything You Can Imagine (hooray for Lord of the Rings nerdiness!), All the Ever Afters (Cinderella from the stepmother’s perspective), and Melmoth (I should probably read The Essex Serpent first).
My NetGalley approval for this week is The Sea Witch, a retelling of The Little Mermaid from the witch’s point of view. We’re getting so many mermaids/siren books this year and I’m loving it!
Can I just say that I’m so thrilled to have two fairy tale retellings here? Not just that, but two fairy tale retellings told from the villain’s point of view? Yes yes yes!
That’s it for this week in books! This weekend should be a bit of a treat too. When my parents moved from the US to the UK, they had all our stuff stored. It is all arriving today and this weekend will be filled with lots of memories and showing Scottish Fiance embarrassing photos of me as a child. Also, we’re finally getting all our books back!! I cannot wait to sort through everything.
