I managed another great reading month in May – I read 14 books! There was definteily a boost to my reading because I got myself a Kobo eReader, which I’ve been wanting for absolute ages. While the quality of the books I read did vary, I’m really pleased with what (including an unusual amount of non-fiction) I read and my work to clear the TBR.
Books I read
Advance Reader Copies from publishers

I read six books from publishers this month – some new and upcoming releases, and some older titles. I particularly enjoyed The Devils by Joe Abercrombie, which starts a new series separate from his First Law world, and Clockwork Boys by T. Kingfisher.
You can read reviews of The Devils, Swordheart, and When the Moon Hits Your Eye here.
Audiobooks

Audiobooks were a big winner this month. As I’m doing more and more crafting, I’ve been turning to my audiobook libraries to make sure I’m keeping up with my reading. I have a pretty extensive Audible library, even though I cancelled my subscription ages ago, and I’m building up a small library of audiobooks on Libro.FM.
My favourite audiobooks of the month were The Buffalo Hunger Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones and Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman – very different books, but both made for excellent reading experiences.
Everything else!

The last three books I read are a combination of library books, Kobo Unlimited, and TBR titles. I really enjoyed Cultish and My Dear Henry, but I think A Sincere Warning About the Entity in Your Home is possibly the silliest, lamest book I’ve read in awhile.
Books sent by publishers
NetGalley titles

I hit the jackpot with NetGalley books this month! A few of my most anticipated reads of the year are amongst the book I was approved for on NetGalley in May. I’m especially looking forward to The Everlasting, The Bewitching, and Hot Wax!
Physical review copies

I received some excellent book mail this past month. I’ve since finished reading The Incandescent (review to come, it was excellent) and am really looking forward to the rest! I’m incredibly curious about The Knight and the Moth, as Gillig is such a popular author.
Books I bought
eBook

I have been filling up my digital library with ebooks! I cannot resist an eBook deal, and grabbed some excellent books for my Kobo this month. The only book I didn’t get from a deal, though it was discounted anyway, is The Wonder Engine, which I plan to read in June.
Physical books

I genuinely had to double check that I only bought two books in June. How is that possible? Apparently I’m taking the lack of shelf space seriously. The first book I bought is Judith Butler’s Who’s Afraid of Gender, which my bookclub will be reading for June. I also nabbed a copy of The Broken Binding’s edition of The Devils, as I loved the book so much! I don’t go in for pricy special editions often these days, but their books are phenomenal and worth the money.
